Srinagar: An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in the Harwan area near Dachigam National Park on Monday, with the operation still underway till the last reports came in, officials said.
According to reports, three terrorists have been killed in the gunfight. However, there is no official confirmation yet.
The Srinagar-based Army’s Chinar Corps confirmed the development on its official X handle, posting, “Contact established in Operation Mahadev – General Area Lidwas. The operation is in progress.”
Security forces had launched an anti-militancy operation in the Mulnar area of Harwan following specific intelligence inputs.
Officials said two gunshots were initially heard from a distance during the search operation, which later escalated into a full-fledged encounter.
