Chandigarh: Two workers were killed and five others were seriously injured when a boiler exploded at a tyre oil extraction factory near Sheikhpura Kadeem on Sunday. The incident triggered panic in the area.
Police and fire brigade teams rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. Efforts are underway to identify the deceased, officials said.
According to eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred suddenly while oil was being extracted from tyres. The blast was followed by a massive fire that quickly engulfed the entire factory. The sound of the explosion was so loud that it caused panic among nearby residents.
The factory, reportedly owned by Brijesh Prajapati, had been inaugurated just six days ago on the occasion of Chhoti Diwali, locals said.
Following the incident, the local administration ordered an immediate inquiry to determine the cause of the explosion and to check whether safety protocols were being followed. Residents have demanded strict measures to prevent such industrial accidents in the future.
