Chandigarh: Nearly two months after the murder of 71-year-old NRI Rupinder Kaur, who had travelled from the United States to Punjab in search of companionship, the Dehlon police have intensified their investigation and are working on a strategy to secure the arrest of the main accused, Charanjit Singh, who is believed to be abroad.
According to officials, the process to bring Charanjit Singh back to Ludhiana has already begun. Meanwhile, the police had earlier arrested Sukhjeet Singh, a typist at the Kila Raipur Court, whose bail was cancelled recently. Investigators are now searching for Sukhjeet’s brother, Manveer Singh, also known as Mani Pehalwan.
Police teams have expanded their search and are checking locations where Manveer is suspected to appear, including kabaddi matches where he might participate. Recent raids were conducted in areas such as Chandigarh and Khamanon, but no breakthrough was made.
Officials said the police have also obtained some video clips that may help trace Manveer’s movements. Multiple teams are actively working to locate the accused, and the investigation continues to gather pace.
