Two policemen shot dead inside border outpost in Gurdaspur

Gurdaspur: Two police personnel were shot dead after unidentified assailants opened fire inside a police outpost in Adian village of Gurdaspur district in the early hours of the night.

The incident took place around 1 am at a police post located nearly 1.5 km from the India-Pakistan border. According to preliminary information, the attackers allegedly entered the outpost and fired around six rounds in quick succession.

The deceased have been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gurnam Singh and Home Guard jawan Ashok Kumar. Their bodies were recovered with visible gunshot wounds.

After receiving information about the incident, local police teams rushed to the spot and began an investigation. Senior officers reached the scene to assess the situation and collect evidence.

Banarsi Das, Station House Officer of Dorangla police station, said the matter is being probed from all angles.

Police have secured the scene and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination.
