Two-year-old boy dies after stray dog attack in Gurdaspur area

Gurdaspur: A two-year-old boy died after being attacked by stray dogs outside his house in the Gurdaspur area, leaving the family and local residents in shock.

According to information, the child’s father, Indras, works as a daily wage labourer and lives in Shahpamp area with his family. He supports the family through manual labour.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning when the child, identified as Ismail, was playing outside the house in the lane. Although he was inside the gate of the house, the gate was open at the time. His mother was inside preparing tea.

During this time, stray dogs roaming in the lane entered through the open gate and attacked the child, biting him severely. Hearing the child’s screams, nearby residents rushed to the spot and managed to chase away the dogs.

Local resident Balveer Singh said people tried their best to save the child, but he had already suffered serious injuries. The injured boy was first taken to Dhillon Hospital in Dhariwal for treatment.

Doctors there referred him to the Civil Hospital in Gurdaspur due to his critical condition. However, upon arrival, doctors declared the child dead. Ismail was the only son of his parents.

The incident has left the family devastated. Residents of the area said the number of stray dogs has been increasing, creating fear among locals.

Several similar dog attack incidents have been reported earlier as well. Local residents have urged the administration and municipal council to take strict measures to control the stray dog population to prevent such tragedies in the future.
