Amritsar: The Amritsar police have detained a software engineer in connection with a bomb threat at the Golden Temple. The accused has been identified as Shubham Dubey, a resident of Faridabad.
Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said Dubey has been arrested and termed it a “partial success”. His laptop and mobile phone have been seized and sent for forensic examination.
The office staff of the SGPC had been receiving threats since July 14 about a bomb being planted in the Golden Temple, following which security in and around the complex was increased.
Bhullar said central agencies are also involved in the investigation and that the help of several software companies has been sought in the probe. Further investigation is underway.
