Chandigarh: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan arrived in Punjab on Thursday to assess the flood situation. He will be visiting the flood-affected areas of Amritsar and Gurdaspur districts to review the ground situation.
Earlier in the day, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria handed over a detailed report on the floods in five border districts — Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran and Ferozepur — to the Union Minister at Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji International Airport in Amritsar.
The Governor had toured these districts between September 1 and 4. During the meeting, he briefed Chouhan about the extensive damage to human lives, property, crops and infrastructure.
He also highlighted the ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures being carried out jointly by the Punjab Government, district administration, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other agencies.
