MOGA: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday visited Ransingh Kalan village in Moga district, where he lauded Punjab’s farming community for achieving new milestones in public participation and adopting modern agricultural practices, particularly in reducing stubble burning.
Chouhan began his day-long visit by offering prayers at the local gurdwara before heading to the fields with officials from the agriculture ministry to review on-ground farming methods.
He interacted with farmers to understand their approach to direct sowing, efficient fertiliser use and stubble management techniques.
Calling Punjab “brilliant,” Chouhan said, “There have been new records of public participation in the panchayat here. I am grateful to the people of Punjab. We feel like we’ve come home.”
During his stay, the Minister sat with panchayat members and local residents on a traditional cot and shared a meal of Punjabi dishes. “After eating the traditional makki di roti and sarson da saag, my heart is happy and I feel very good,” he said.
