NAVI MUMBAI: Ahead of the World Cup match between India and South Africa, light rain lashed the DY Patil Stadium area on Sunday. A bright sun appeared shortly after, but the sudden showers caught everyone by surprise.
The Meteorological Department had predicted light rain between 1 pm and 2 pm, but the unexpected downpour may delay the toss for the final, scheduled to start at 3 pm.
This marks the fourth time in Navi Mumbai that unseasonal rain has affected matches at the DY Patil Stadium. Previous games at the venue have faced delays, cancellations, or disruptions due to rain.
