New Delhi: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from his post on Monday evening, citing medical reasons.
He sent his resignation to President Droupadi Murmu, stepping down with immediate effect.
Dhankhar, 74, became the Vice President in August 2022. In his resignation letter, he said he was prioritising his health on medical advice.
“In order to give priority to healthcare and to follow medical advice, I hereby tender my resignation from the post of Vice President of India, with immediate effect, in accordance with Article 67(A) of the Constitution,” Dhankhar wrote in his letter to the President.
