Jamui: A police team came under attack in Kaddua Tari village of Bihar’s Jamui district when they had gone to raid the area on information of country liquor manufacturing. The incident took place on Friday and its video went viral on Saturday.
According to the footage, around 50 villagers, including men and women, chased the police team and beat them with sticks.
Several policemen were seen running to save their lives, while one constable was caught by a youth and thrashed by the mob. In the video, the constable can be seen pleading with folded hands as villagers continued to assault him. Some were also seen trying to snatch his weapon.
During the attack, woman SI Urmila Kumari and SI Shubham Jha were surrounded by the crowd. The woman SI was seen crying as the mob closed in. More than six policemen, including Urmila Kumari and Shubham Jha, sustained injuries in the assault.
The situation turned tense as the police appeared helpless in front of the villagers, who also abused them during the attack.
