War against drugs: Illegal construction of woman drug trafficker demolished in Kapurthala

Kapurthala News: As part of the Punjab government’s ongoing “War Against Drugs” campaign, the civil and police administration on Wednesday demolished an illegal structure raised by a woman drug trafficker on panchayat land in Kapurthala district.

The action was carried out on the directions of the Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO), Nadala. The illegal construction was located in Lakhan Khole village under Subhanpur police station limits and belonged to Jagir Kaur alias Billo, wife of Kishan Singh, a resident of the same village.

Sharing details, Kapurthala Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Toora said the BDPO had informed the administration that Jagir Kaur had encroached upon panchayat land and constructed a house while being involved in anti-social activities. Despite repeated notices issued to vacate the illegal occupation, she failed to comply, following which police assistance was sought.

The SSP said Jagir Kaur alias Billo is facing eight cases under the NDPS Act registered at different police stations. FIR numbers 30, 127, 183, 85 and 239 are registered at Subhanpur police station while FIR number 33 is registered at Bhogpur police station in Jalandhar district.

He said the Punjab government has issued strict directions to take firm action against drug traffickers and the district police is fully committed to curbing drug trafficking. “No person involved in the drug trade will be spared and strict legal action will be taken,” he said, adding that the campaign against drug trafficking will continue in the future.
