Where is Imran Khan? Adiala jail rejects death rumours, says former Pakistan PM is in good health

Islamabad: Speculation over the whereabouts and safety of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has escalated, prompting the Adiala Jail administration to issue a clarification on Wednesday amid widespread death rumours.

The jail authorities said that Khan had been moved out of the Adiala facility but insisted that he was in “good health” and dismissed reports of his death as “baseless”. However, the clarification has done little to calm his supporters, who continue to express distrust in the official version.

Rumours began circulating after Khan’s sisters alleged that, despite court permission, they were not being allowed to meet him nor informed about his health. They claimed that the lack of access and communication had raised fears that Khan may have been harmed or shifted secretly. Their allegations sparked protests outside Adiala Jail, where supporters demanded transparency and proof of Khan’s wellbeing.

Concerns over Khan’s safety are not new. His family and supporters have repeatedly raised alarms, and Khan himself has accused Pakistan’s army chief, General Asim Munir, of plotting to kill him. This time, the speculation intensified after several days passed with no updates from the authorities about his condition.

As uncertainty continues, questions are being raised across Pakistan about custodial safety and accountability, with many demanding clearer communication from the state regarding the former prime minister’s status.
