New Delhi: Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in China.
Xi said that friendship between India and China would prove beneficial for both countries and called for greater cooperation.
“We both carry the historic responsibility of advancing the development of human society by promoting unity and revival of developing countries, to improve the lives of our people,” Xi said.
He added that India and China should view their ties from a political and long-term perspective. “It is the right choice for both to be friends, good neighbours and partners who celebrate each other’s success,” he said.
