Barnala: A young man and woman were found dead in the same room in Punjab’s Barnala on Friday, in an incident that police are currently investigating as a suspected suicide.
The body of the man, identified as Parvinder Singh (30) from Kaonke, Machhiwara in Ludhiana district, was found hanging from a fan with a cloth, while the body of the woman, Baljeet Kaur (25) from Aligarh, Jagraon, was lying on the bed.
SHO Nirmaljit Singh of Tallewal police station said he was informed about the incident around 7 am, following which a police team reached the spot and began investigation. Forensic teams are collecting evidence at the scene, which is in Tallewal village of the Mahal Kalan assembly constituency.
According to police, Parvinder had recently moved to the village and was provided a vacant NRI house by an acquaintance. The exact nature of the relationship between the two deceased is still under investigation.
Both bodies have been sent to the government hospital in Barnala for postmortem, and police are gathering statements from family members as part of the ongoing probe.
