KAPURTHALA: A young man from Sultanpur Lodhi sub-division died by suicide after allegedly consuming poisonous medicine. Before his death, he left a suicide note in which he blamed a travel agent from village Dudwindi and the investigating DSP for driving him to take the extreme step.
According to initial information, the deceased, Gurpreet Singh of village Karmajitpur, had paid ₹25 lakh to a travel agent from village Dudwindi two years ago to facilitate his travel to Canada.
However, despite the long wait, the agent neither arranged the travel nor returned the money.
Distressed over the delay, Gurpreet had lodged a complaint with the SSP Kapurthala around two months ago. The matter was marked for inquiry to DSP (NDPS) Sukhpal Singh Randhawa.
Further details regarding the investigation and the content of the suicide note are awaited from the police.
