YouTube to pay $24.5 million to settle Trump lawsuit over 2021 suspension

Washington: Google’s YouTube has agreed to pay $24.5 million to settle a lawsuit filed by former US President Donald Trump over the suspension of his account in 2021.

According to documents filed in a federal court in California, $22 million of the settlement will go to the National Mall Trust, while the remaining amount will be distributed among other plaintiffs, including the American Conservative Union.

YouTube is the latest major tech company to settle a lawsuit brought by Trump. Earlier in January, Meta Platforms agreed to pay $25 million to settle a case linked to the suspension of Trump’s Facebook account in 2021.
