Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Home Department has declared the entire route of the annual Amarnath Yatra a ‘no-flying zone’ from July 1 to August 10, ahead of the pilgrimage scheduled to begin next month.
In a notification issued on Monday, the Home Department said that the ban will be enforced to ensure the safe and peaceful conduct of the Yatra, which is slated to take place from July 3 to August 10. Several additional security measures have also been put in place.
The move comes in the wake of the April terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 people. Officials said that in view of the recent incident, stricter precautions are being taken to secure the pilgrimage routes and protect devotees.
