New Delhi: As the Modi government completed 11 years in office on Monday, the Congress launched a sharp attack, alleging that the period has been marked by an “undeclared emergency” and unfulfilled promises.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, in a joint post on X, said that the government had turned “big promises into mere claims” and the much-publicised slogan of achche din (better days) had become a “nightmare” for the people.

“In the 11 years since May 26, 2014, the Modi government has ruined the country to such an extent that the promise of achche din has turned into a nightmare,” Kharge said.

He accused the BJP-led government of failing on multiple fronts, including employment, farmers’ income, welfare of women and weaker sections, and the economy.

Kharge claimed that inflation and unemployment were at their peak, consumption had stalled, the ‘Make in India’ initiative had failed, and inequality was worsening.
