PM Modi arrives in Croatia on historic first visit by Indian PM

Zagreb: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Croatia on Wednesday on the final leg of his three-nation tour, marking the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country. During the visit, he is scheduled to hold talks with Croatia’s top leadership to boost bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic personally received Modi at the airport, where he was given a ceremonial welcome.

Sharing the moment on social media, Plenkovic said, “We welcomed Indian Prime Minister @narendramodi to Zagreb! This is the first visit by the Prime Minister of India – the world’s most populous country, coming at a crucial geopolitical moment.”

He added that both countries are now opening a new chapter in their relationship and laying the groundwork to strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal also called the visit a “historic milestone,” posting on X, “Marking a historic milestone in India-Croatia relations, the Prime Minister @narendramodi has reached Zagreb, Croatia… Prime Minister @AndrejPlenkovic was accorded a warm welcome at the airport with a ceremonial welcome.”

Modi arrived in Croatia from Canada, where he attended the G7 Summit and held bilateral meetings with several world leaders. The first leg of his tour included a visit to Cyprus.
