Punjab govt to convene Vidhan Sabha session at Sri Anandpur Sahib on Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 350th martyrdom anniversary

Chandigarh: The Punjab government will convene a special session of the Vidhan Sabha outside Chandigarh for the first time in history to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The session will be held on November 24 at Baba Jiwan Singh Memorial Park in Sri Anandpur Sahib, coinciding with Martyrdom Day.

The commemorations will begin on November 23 and continue on November 24. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will inaugurate the Baba Jiwan Singh Memorial Park on October 5 ahead of the special session.

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains told the Punjabi Tribune that as per the Constitution, the Vidhan Sabha can be held at any location with the Governor’s approval. He said the government is in the process of finalising arrangements for the session at Sri Anandpur Sahib.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has called a meeting on Monday to decide the contours of the session, while a series of discussions with the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat are already underway.
