Srinagar: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday visited Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district to meet the families affected by recent violence.
Gandhi interacted with the children of the victims, encouraging them to focus on their studies and assuring them that “everything is fine” and there is no need to fear.
He also met other members of the affected families and listened to their concerns.
During the visit, locals informed Gandhi about the prevailing situation in the region and expressed worries over repeated attacks from across the border, which they said had created an atmosphere of fear in the area.
The visit comes amid heightened tensions in the region following recent cross-border incidents.
