AAP Delegation Calls on Governor, Demands Immediate Arrest and Action Against Accused in Haryana IPS Officer’s Case

If BJP Fails to Ensure Justice, We’ll Take the Struggle to Every Village and Corner: Harpal Singh Cheema

Punjab E News (Pawan Dhupar):  A delegation of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab today called on the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, demanding the immediate arrest and strict action against the accused in the Haryana IPS officer ADGP Y. Puran Kumar’s case.

The delegation, led by Punjab Finance Minister and senior AAP leader Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema, MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, MLAs Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi, Dr. Charanjit Singh, Manwinder Singh Giaspura and Gurpreet Singh GP, and other senior party leaders including Pawan Kumar Tinu, Robin Sampala, and Baljinder Singh Chaunda, submitted a detailed memorandum to the Governor, strongly condemning the case of caste-based harassment and discrimination that led to the tragic death of the IPS officer.

“The Governor assured the delegation that the matter will be taken seriously and appropriate action will follow,” said Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema.

While talking to media, Finance Minister Cheema said that the delegation demanded immediate suspension and arrest of all officers named in the late IPS officer’s ‘Final Note’ under the relevant sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and abetment to suicide. “It has been more than a week, but the DGP Haryana and other officers named by late Y. Puran Kumar’s are still roaming free. This shows the BJP’s bias and its utter disregard for justice when the victims belong to the Dalit community,” he added.

The AAP leader also slammed the BJP government for its silence on the issue, saying that the Prime Minister and Home Minister have maintained complete silence despite the gravity of the situation. “The BJP’s failure to protect SC/ST citizens is evident from the increasing crimes against them in BJP-ruled states,” Cheema said.

The delegation also condemned the recent incident of attack on the Chief Justice of India, calling it a “planned attempt to insult the country’s highest judicial authority.” Cheema said that the BJP is weakening constitutional institutions and vulnerable communities.

AAP demands that the BJP-led Union Government break its silence and take immediate action to protect SC/ST citizens from caste-based atrocities. “We will not let the BJP destroy the Constitution written by Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. The BJP is trying to snatch away the rights that Babasaheb gave to Dalits, backward classes, and the poor. We will not let that happen,” Cheema declared.

The AAP delegation warned that if justice is not delivered soon, the party will take this struggle to every village and every corner of the country. “We will fight together for justice, equality, and the protection of India’s Constitution,” said Harpal Singh Cheema.
