Punjab News: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Baltej Pannu hailed the Punjab government’s significant victory in the BBMB (Bhakra Beas Management Board) Secretary recruitment case after the Punjab and Haryana High Court disposed of the matter.
During the hearing, the BBMB informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court that it had withdrawn its controversial order dated 25 July 2025, which had triggered objections from the Punjab government. With the withdrawal of this order, the High Court disposed of the petition.
Pannu said that the petition had alleged that Punjab cadre officers were being sidelined to benefit officers from the Haryana cadre. The Mann Government argued that the BBMB Chairman attempted to make appointments despite lacking the authority to do so, bypassing established rules, legal procedures, and the inter-state framework governing the functioning of BBMB.
Pannu said that Senior Engineers (SEs) from the Punjab Water Resources Department had also raised the issue of arbitrariness of BBMB administration and discrimination in the recruitment process.
Baltej Pannu stated that the High Court’s decision and the BBMB’s withdrawal of its order vindicate the Mann government’s firm and principled stand. He said this development is a major win for Punjab and ensures that the rights of Punjab cadre officers are protected.
Pannu added that AAP remains committed to safeguarding Punjab’s interests and will continue to oppose any attempt to undermine the state’s rightful share.
