Chandigarh: AAP MLA from Kharar and former minister Anmol Gagan Mann has resigned from her post and announced her decision to quit politics. She has urged Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan to accept her resignation at the earliest.
“The heart is heavy, but I have decided to quit politics,” Mann said in a post on X. “My resignation from the post of MLA to the Speaker should be accepted. My best wishes are with the party. I hope the Punjab government will live up to the expectations of the people.”
The reason for her decision was not immediately known.
Singer-turned-politician Mann had won the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections from the Kharar constituency. She later became a minister, handling tourism and culture, investment promotion, labour, and hospitality departments. However, last year, the Bhagwant Mann-led government had removed four ministers, including Mann, from the cabinet.
Anmol Gagan Mann is also known for her popular songs, including ‘Suit’, and ‘Sherni’.
