Ludhiana: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has secured victory in the by-election to the West Assembly seat in Ludhiana district, prompting fresh discussions over internal discord within the Punjab Congress.
Soon after the AAP’s win, a controversial social media post went viral, allegedly shared by Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring.
The post, seen as indirectly celebrating AAP’s victory, was reportedly deleted shortly after being posted. The incident sparked speculation and criticism within the party ranks.
Reacting to the controversy, Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu, who lost the seat, said, “If any of our leaders have shared the victory symbol, it reflects their small thinking.”
Ashu, however, defended the party’s performance, saying, “The election results show that we didn’t allow a one-sided contest. We gave a full fight to the government. If you look deeper, you’ll understand the reason behind this defeat.”
Kapurthala MLA Rana Gurjit Singh also weighed in on the issue, though refrained from making any direct statements about the viral post.
