Akali Dal Councillors, Ex-MC and Their Family Members Join AAP; Big Boost to Party in Doaba

Jalandhar News: In a major political development strengthening the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Doaba region, Akali Dal Municipal Councillors Ramesh Sondhi, Sukhwinder Kaur and Geeta Basra, former MC Kulwinder Kaur, along with their family members Amarjeet Singh, Ravi Basra and Bharat Raja, formally joined AAP on Monday.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann welcomed the leaders into the party during a programme held in Jalandhar. He urged them to work with commitment and honesty for public welfare and to strengthen people-centric governance at the grassroots level.

CM Mann said that AAP stands for transparent, corruption-free and accountable politics, focused solely on public service. He called upon the new members to connect with people in their areas and actively spread awareness about the welfare-oriented initiatives of the AAP government. “Our government is working to ensure that the benefits of development, social justice and economic growth reach every household in Punjab,” he said.

After joining the party, the newly inducted leaders said they were deeply inspired by the pro-people policies and decisive governance of the Mann government. They said initiatives such as free electricity, Yudh Nashian Virudh, Punjab Sikhiya Kranti, and the provision of over 63,000 government jobs have transformed public trust in governance and placed Punjab on a strong growth path.

They added that these reforms have created a visible change on the ground and represent a clear shift from politics of privilege to politics of performance.

Prominent leaders present on the occasion included MLA Inderjit Kaur Mann, Chairman Punjab Safai Karamchari Commission Chandan Grewal, AAP District President Amritpal Singh, and senior AAP leaders Nitin Kohli, Rajwinder Kaur Thiara, Pinder Pandori, Principal Prem Kumar and Mangal Singh Bassi.
