Bhog and last ardas of comedian Jaswinder Bhalla held in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: The bhog and last ardas of renowned Punjabi comedian Jaswinder Bhalla were held today at Gurdwara Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib in Sector 34, Chandigarh.

Punjabi film actors Gippy Grewal, Gurpreet Ghuggi, director Sameep Kang, Punjab minister Hardeep Singh Mundiya and MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer were among those who attended the ceremony. Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring also visited the gurdwara along with his wife to pay respects. A large number of admirers gathered to pay tribute to the late actor.

Remembering Bhalla, retired Punjab Film Censor Board member R R Gill said, “TV and comedy serials used to come to me for certification. I would pass Bhalla’s serials within a minute because he made people laugh with clean comedy.”

Bhalla, who passed away on August 22 following a brain stroke, was 65. Born on May 4, 1960, in Doraha, Ludhiana, he was celebrated for his contribution to Punjabi cinema and television. His demise drew condolences from leading figures in the Punjabi film industry, politics and society.
