BIG ACTION BY COMMISSIONERATE POLICE JALANDHAR: ASSETS WORTH ₹36,05,427 CONFISCATED FROM NOTORIOUS DRUG PEDDLERS

Jalandhar News: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Smt. Dhanpreet Kaur, has seized movable and immovable assets *worth ₹36,05,427 belonging to three notorious drug smugglers*.

Divulging details, the Commissioner of Police informed that *FIR No. 180 dated 20.05.2025 under Sections 22/61 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Division No. 1, Jalandhar* following the recovery of *2,23,000 narcotic tablets* of Tramadol Hydrochloride USP 100mg (Panadole) from the accused: 1. Nitin Sharma, S/o Mukesh Sharma, R/o Bachint Nagar, Village Reru, Pathankot Chowk, Jalandhar 2. Ajay Kumar, S/o Sunil Kumar, R/o H. No. 563, Tilak Nagar, Near Nakha Wala Bagh, Jalandhar 3. Amit Verma @ Sunny, S/o Ashok Kumar, R/o H. No. B-2/764, Satnam Nagar, Jalandhar.

She said that during enquiry it was ascertained the accused had purchased property and vehicles using proceeds generated from drug smuggling.

Subsequently, the Police initiated proceedings for confiscation of the property adding that orders for the confiscation of properties and vehicles have been received from the competent authority.

The CP further informed that the seized assets comprise a residential house valued at ₹23,25,000 (including land and construction), a Maruti Suzuki Swift VXI worth ₹5,38,919, a Maruti Suzuki Fronx valued at ₹6,80,392, and an Activa scooter worth ₹61,116. The total cumulative value of the confiscated property amounts to ₹36,05,427.

Reaffirming the unwavering commitment of the Jalandhar Police to eradicate drug trafficking, she said that strict action will be taken against all individuals involved in the drug trade, and any property or vehicles acquired through illicit means will continue to be confiscated as per law.
