Special Drive Against Gangsters and Drug-Related Activities
Jalandhar News: Jalandhar Police conducted a special Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) under “Operation Prahaar 2.0” and “Yudh Nashian Virudh” at various locations across the city as part of a focused drive against gangsters, drug traffickers, illegal weapons, and other anti-social elements.
The operation was carried out under the direct supervision of Special DGP Smt. Gurpreet Deo, along with CP Jalandhar Smt. Dhanpreet Kaur. Senior officers, including Gazetted Officers, SHOs, police officials, and specialised teams, actively participated in the operation.
The primary objective of the operation was to curb organised crime, drug trafficking, and the circulation of illegal weapons, while further strengthening law and order in the city.
During the operation, 51 raids were conducted across different areas. Police arrested 12 persons, while 9 persons were detained under preventive action. A total of 16 persons were interrogated/verified, and 177 suspicious persons were checked during the drive.
Police teams also conducted two search operations at the Railway Station and Bus Stand, besides setting up nine nakabandis at strategic points. As many as 349 vehicles were checked and 25 challans were issued. Two persons were rounded up during the operation.
Under the NDPS Act, 24.50 grams of heroin was recovered. Besides this, two motorcycles and other articles were also seized.
Officials stated that such operations also serve as a confidence-building measure to reassure the public and enhance police visibility in high-risk areas.
