CCTVs to be installed at all medical stores within a week to curb drug abuse among children: PSCPCR Chairman

Directs police and civil administration to ensure strict implementation of NCPCR guidelines across the district

Jalandhar News:  Chairman, Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (PSCPCR), Kanwardeep Singh, today directed the Police and Civil Administration to ensure the installation of CCTV cameras at all medical stores within seven days to curb drug and substance abuse among children, in line with guidelines issued by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), New Delhi.

Presiding over a review meeting at the District Administrative Complex, Mr. Singh emphasized that safeguarding the young generation from the menace of drugs was the “need of the hour.” He underlined that the NCPCR’s detailed framework on “Prevention of Drugs and Substances Abuse among Children and Illicit Trafficking” must be implemented in letter and spirit to effectively combat the problem.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Amaninder Kaur briefed the Chairman on district-level actions, noting that Magistrate orders mandating CCTV installation at all medical stores had already been issued. She informed that Child Welfare Police Officers had inspected 180 medical shops over the past three months, while 406 Prahari Clubs were established to promote awareness among students and youth.

The Chairman also commended the Jalandhar Administration for setting up a dedicated enclosure at the de-addiction centre to bolster rehabilitation efforts. Urging all departments to work in coordination, Mr. Singh said, “A unified approach is essential to protect our children and secure a drug-free future for Punjab.”

Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Joint Director Women and Child Development Department Rajwinder Singh Gill, Deputy Director SCPCR Gulbahar Singh Toor, DPO Jalandhar Manjinder Singh, and representatives from Police and Civil Administration.
