Directs officials to ensure prompt action, awareness drives in educational institutions
Jalandhar News (Pawan Dhupar): Chairman Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (PSCPCR), Kanwardeep Singh, today conducted a comprehensive review of cases registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act with officials of Jalandhar Rural Police at the SSP Office, Jalandhar.
Accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh Virk, Joint Director Women and Child Development Drpartment Rajwinder Singh Gill, Deputy Director Gulbahar Singh, District Program Officer Manjinder Singh, DCPO Ajay Bharti, and Legal Probation Officer Sandeep Kumar, the Chairman examined the progress of ongoing POCSO cases in detail. He directed police officials to ensure swift and transparent action in all instances of reported child rights violations.
Emphasizing the need for preventive awareness, Singh instructed authorities to launch an intensive campaign in educational institutions to sensitize students and teachers about the provisions of the POCSO Act. He highlighted the importance of educating children about child helpline number 1098, enabling them to report incidents without hesitation.
During the review, the Chairman also interacted with the family of an affected child, assessing the action taken by Jalandhar Rural Police and assuring strict measures against the erring officials.
Reaffirming the Punjab Government’s commitment to safeguarding child rights, Kanwardeep Singh stressed that effective enforcement of child protection laws remains a top priority for the state administration.
