CM Mann announces ex-gratia to victims of Hoshiarpur LPG tanker explosion

Hoshiarpur: Two persons were killed and 23 others injured when an LPG tanker collided with a pick-up truck near the Hindustan Petroleum LPG plant in Mandiala village on the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar road late Friday night, police said. The collision triggered a fire following the explosion of the tanker.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed grief over the incident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased. “The Punjab government will provide financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident, while the treatment of the injured will be free of cost,” Mann said in a statement.

Senior Medical Officer of Hoshiarpur Civil Hospital, Dr Kuldeep Singh, said that 23 victims were admitted with burn injuries. Of these, 15 were referred to specialty hospitals, including a private hospital in Adampur.

Seven others are undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital in Hoshiarpur. One person was brought dead, while another succumbed to injuries during treatment.
