Complete Ban on Selling, Purchasing, Storing, and Using China Dor

Kapurthala News: District Magistrate–cum–Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal, exercising the powers vested under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023, has issued orders imposing a complete ban on selling, purchasing, storing, and using synthetic/nylon kite strings commonly known as China Dor and synthetic manja-coated strings within the boundaries of Kapurthala district. These orders will remain in force till January 31, 2026.

According to the orders, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) will ensure strict implementation of these restrictions.

The orders state that nowadays people widely use China Dor for flying kites. Unlike cotton threads, China Dor is made of plastic and is extremely strong. It often results in serious incidents such as cuts on the hands and fingers of kite flyers, and injuries to the neck and ears of cyclists and scooter riders. This string poses a serious threat to human life as well as birds. Therefore, it has become necessary to take appropriate steps to stop this activity.
