DC flags off ‘Ride for Peace’ to promote drug-free, empowered and peaceful society

Women bikers to cover border districts, spreading message of patriotism and harmony

Jalandhar News:  Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today flagged off a unique “Ride for Peace” by a seven-member all-women biker group, Panj-Aab Riders, as part of Punjab Government’s ambitious Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign to eradicate the drug menace from society.
Starting from the DC’s residence at 6am, the riders embarked on a multi-day journey covering Attari, Hussainiwala, Fazilka, Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Pokhran, Jaisalmer and Longewala, carrying the tricolour to honour India’s brave soldiers and spread the message of patriotism, peace, and a drug-free society in view of Independence Day celebrations. Despite rain and inclement weather, the womeb bikers started off their journey to mark a noble cause.

Dr. Aggarwal lauded the initiative, calling it a powerful blend of social awareness and women empowerment. “The Punjab Government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to eradicating drugs through sustained awareness and enforcement. This ride sends a strong message to our youth that life is about courage, purpose, and staying away from addiction,” he said.

He further noted that the presence of women riders leading such a mission exemplifies the government’s vision of gender equality and empowerment. “When women lead the way, the message becomes stronger and more inclusive,” he added.

Founder of Panj-Aab Riders Ambika Sonia said the ride was dedicated to soldiers guarding the nation’s borders and to the hope of a peaceful, safe, and drug-free Punjab. Residents gathered at the venue to cheer the bikers, marking the start of a patriotic and socially-driven journey.
