District administration teams conduct full-day recce of rivers, strengthen weak embankments: DC Dr. Preeti Yadav

DC reviews water flow at Badi Nadi and Pachisdara in village Surhon

Patiala News: Patiala Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav today reviewed the strengthening work of embankments at Pachisdara in village Surhon near Rajpura and later inspected Badi Nadi at Sanauri Adda and Daulatpur.

She informed that district administration teams, under the supervision of ADCs Amrinder Singh Tiwana and Navreet Kaur Sekhon along with SDMs Avikesh Gupta, Kirpalveer Singh, Harjot Kaur Mavi, Richa Goyal and Ashok Kumar, conducted a full-day recce of Badi Nadi, Ghaggar, Pachisdara, Tangri, Markanda and other rivers. Wherever weaknesses were noticed, embankments were immediately strengthened as a precautionary measure.

Dr. Preeti Yadav clarified that the overall situation in the district remains under control. She said that while water had entered fields in some villages, it is now receding, though rivers continue to flow at full capacity. She appealed to residents not to go near water channels and to immediately share any information regarding water rise, breaches, or emergency situations at the district administration helpline numbers 0175-2350550 and 0175-2358550.

The Deputy Commissioner further stated that although heavy rains in the catchment areas have raised river levels, the administration has put all arrangements in place to deal with any emergency. Relief centres are ready, and teams are working round-the-clock at ground zero to safeguard lives and property.

Expressing gratitude to residents for sharing timely information, photos and videos, Dr. Preeti Yadav said this has greatly helped in preventing major emergencies. She once again appealed to the public, particularly residents of Patiala city, not to believe or spread rumors and to verify the authenticity of any photos or videos before sharing them.

On this occasion, Executive Engineer of the Drainage Department Pratham Gambhir and other officials were also present.
