Sports University will contribute to eradicate menace of drugs by promoting sports and sportspersons: Dr Pushpinder Singh Gill
Patiala News: Newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University, Patiala, Dr Pushpinder Singh Gill officially assumed charge today at the university office located on Mall Road. On this occasion, Patiala MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli, renowned actor Karamjit Anmol and several other prominent personalities specially attended the event to congratulate Dr Gill. They expressed confidence that under his leadership, the Sports University would achieve new heights.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and outlined his priorities, stating that by promoting sports and nurturing athletes, Punjab Sports University would play a significant role in eliminating the scourge of drug abuse from the state. Dr Gill further shared that the Punjab Government, particularly Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, has assured him of full support for the university.
Dr. Gill added that the Punjab Government is developing sports stadiums in villages across the state, and the Sports University will make every possible effort to fulfill the vision set by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Emphasising his personal background as a sportsperson, Dr Gill said he would leave no stone unturned in taking Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University to greater heights and would live up to the trust placed in him.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli said that the Punjab Government has appointed a highly experienced academic as Vice-Chancellor of Punjab Sports University. He thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for the appointment and congratulated Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill. On the occasion, University Registrar Dr. Anubhav Walia, along with teaching and non-teaching staff, formally welcomed the Vice-Chancellor.
Among those present were Padma Shri Pran Sabharwal, Harkiran Singh Boparai, President and Secretary of PUTA, faculty members from the Department of Business Management, Punjabi University, as well as a large number of teachers and other dignitaries.
