In the by-election, Akali Dal tarnished the name of a ‘dharmi fauji’ relied on gangster Amritpal Bath’s wife to win: Baltej Pannu
Punjab News: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab State General Secretary Baltej Pannu launched a sharp political attack on the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) for fielding gangster Amritpal Bath’s wife, Kanchanpreet Kaur, in the Tarn Taran by-election and for deliberately hiding this fact from the public. Pannu accused the Akali Dal of depending on gangsters and their families to reclaim its lost political ground in Punjab.
Baltej Pannu questioned why the Akali leadership is publicizing her arrest as the daughter of an Akali leader, but hiding the fact that she is also the wife of a gangster. He asked why the Akali Dal is concealing that Kanchanpreet is the wife of gangster Amritpal Bath, who has murdered several people and intimidated voters during the by-election. Pannu revealed that while Kanchanpreet publicly declares from the stage that she is Amritpal Bath’s wife and that they have a son, she leaves the “marital status” column blank when submitting her election affidavit, so the truth does not reach the people.
Pannu alleged that the Akali Dal (Badal) has been politically uprooted from Punjab. Now, they are trying to return to politics with the help of gangsters and their families. He said that from 2007 to 2017, Akali Dal produced only gangsters. The Nabha jail break was orchestrated by these very people, and later, even its CCTV footage was made to disappear. Pannu said that when Amritpal Bath created his “Azad Group” and successfully implemented the formula of intimidating people to get his chosen sarpanches elected, Sukhbir Badal decided to try this formula on a larger scale in the Assembly. After winning the first two phases of voting, they felt that this model could be used across Punjab.
Baltej Pannu warned that in 2027 Sukhbir Singh Badal will distribute Assembly tickets to gangsters and their families. He asked, “Were those not daughters whose fathers were murdered before their eyes? Was she not the daughter who was pushed off a bus and killed? Were those not the daughters whose husbands were murdered by gangster Amritpal Bath? All of them are daughters of Punjab. How can you call this a rising graph when people were openly threatened during the by-election?”
Pannu also condemned the use of the name of a “dharmi fauji” in the by-election. He said that they used the name of a religious soldier, but did anyone see his picture anywhere throughout the election campaign? Dharmi fauji kept saying that this person was not one of them. He stated clearly that the police investigation is underway and many facts will come to light very soon.
