We Will Not Allow the Supreme Sikh Institution to Become the Private Estate of One Family: Bains
Punjab News: Aam Aadmi Party leader and Punjab Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains cornered the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and said that the allegations levelled by the former Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh Ji, are extremely alarming. Bains said that these are not merely allegations, but a living proof of the downfall of the supreme Sikh institution, which has now been turned into the private estate of a particular family.
Harjot Bains said that the revelations made by Giani Raghbir Singh Ji regarding the sale of gurdwara lands and the disappearance of priceless religious scriptures have shaken the Sikh Sangat sitting across the world. He said it is shameful that the institution whose duty was to safeguard the interests of the Panth has today been reduced to a centre of servitude to one family and a platform to fulfil their political interests.
Minister Bains said that when it is not an ordinary person, but a respected personality like the Jathedar who raises questions on corruption and nepotism, it becomes clear that the situation has gone far beyond control. He said that today the SGPC, instead of becoming the voice of the Sikh Panth, is being run by the “Badal family” through remote control. Attempts to turn the Panth’s property into private treasuries will no longer be tolerated.
Bains demanded that all these serious allegations must be investigated through a high-level and impartial inquiry so that the truth can be brought clearly before the Sangat. He demanded that the SGPC must be freed from the control of one family so that the institution can once again work for the welfare of the entire Sikh Panth in accordance with its glorious history.
