Amritsar: Former Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht and Chief Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib, Giani Raghbir Singh, has decided to withdraw the petition he filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
In the petition, he had expressed concerns that the SGPC might harm his position and status, seeking necessary action from the court. The filing of the petition, which came to light yesterday, sparked widespread discussion and criticism within the Sikh community.
Many questioned why a former Jathedar would turn to a civil court over matters related to his office, calling it a violation of Sikh principles and traditions.
Taking a U-turn, Giani Raghbir Singh announced the withdrawal of the petition. In a video message, he said he never intended to undermine the dignity of the posts and institutions he served.
