Good News! Hassle of Pensioners Visiting Offices Ends! Mann Government Launches ‘Sewa Portal’, 3.15 Lakh Pensioners to Get Pension at Home

Punjab E News: The burden of retired citizens having to visit government offices for their pension needs has finally been lifted. On November 4, 2025, Punjab Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema officially launched the landmark ‘Pensioner Sewa Portal’, a revolutionary digital platform designed to bring smooth, simple, and transparent pension services directly to approximately 3.15 lakh pensioners across the state. The core objective of this portal, accessible at [https://pensionersewa.punjab.gov.in](https://pensionersewa.punjab.gov.in), is to completely automate the process of pension disbursal and offer a suite of online services to both pensioners and family pensioners.

During a press conference held at Punjab Bhawan, Minister Cheema elaborated on the initial offerings of the portal. In this starting phase, six essential services are being made available. Pensioners can now effortlessly submit their Digital Life Certificate using the ‘Jeevan Pramaan’ mobile application. Furthermore, the portal includes a Succession Module, allowing applicants to apply for the conversion of their regular pension into a Family Pension. Other key functions include applying for Leave Travel Concession (LTC) and a robust Grievance Redressal Module for lodging any pension-related complaints. Pensioners also have the ability to modify their personal details via the Profile Updation Module and utilize the convenient e-KYC verification facility.

Accessing these services has been designed to be remarkably simple and user-friendly. Pensioners must first complete their e-KYC using the Aadhaar authentication feature to register on the portal. Once registered, they can easily log in from their own mobile phone, PC, or laptop to access all services from their homes. For those who prefer physical assistance, the services can also be availed through the nearest Sewa Kendras, relevant bank branches, or District Treasury Offices. Additionally, a Home Delivery Service option is also available to ensure maximum convenience.

Addressing the situation of expatriate retirees, the Finance Minister clarified that while the portal is currently applicable only within India, Non-Resident Indian (NRI) pensioners are not required to complete e-KYC in this initial stage and must continue to submit manual Life Certificates. He provided assurance, however, that the e-KYC facility for NRI pensioners would be enabled in the near future. The Minister acknowledged that some retirees might experience minor difficulties during the initial registration process. To immediately address and resolve such issues, a dedicated ‘War Room’ has been established at the Directorate of Treasuries and Accounts, Pension, and New Pension Scheme.

To support this major initiative and ensure quick resolution of complaints, three dedicated Helpline Numbers—1800-180-2148, 0172-2996385, and 0172-2996386—have been activated, operating on all working days from 9 AM to 5 PM. The successful completion of a pilot project confirmed the system’s readiness, and staff at District Treasuries, banks, and Sewa Kendras have already received extensive training along with detailed guidelines. Concluding his address, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema firmly stated, “Our pensioners are our honour.” He emphasized that under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, the Punjab government is deeply committed to its retired employees, asserting that the ‘Pensioner Sewa Portal’ will ensure timely, accurate, and dignified services for all.
