Previous governments drove youth away from agriculture, in Mann government farmers are earning ₹12–14 lakh annually: Sandhu
Tarn Taran Election News: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu said that the farmer-friendly policies of the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann have laid the foundation of an agricultural revolution in Punjab. He said that this is the true picture of the ‘Rangla Punjab’, where the same youth who once abandoned farming and moved abroad due to the poor policies of previous governments are now leaving their high-paying jobs to adopt agriculture as a successful business.
Citing data, Harmeet Singh Sandhu said that due to the efforts of the Mann Government, more than 1,200 youth have so far become successful ‘agri-entrepreneurs’. Referring to the example of farmer Harbir Singh from village Sarabha in Ludhiana district, he said that after earning a degree in Electrical Engineering, this young man chose farming instead of a job. Today, by adopting modern agricultural techniques promoted by the government, he is earning an average annual net profit of ₹12 to ₹14 lakh.
Sandhu said that all this has been made possible due to the farsighted vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the hard work of the Horticulture Department. He informed that under schemes like the “National Horticulture Mission,” the government is providing up to 50% subsidy for the establishment of polyhouses. Farmer Harbir Singh also availed the benefit of this subsidy and began cultivating seedless cucumbers, colorful bell peppers, and melons, earning handsome profits.
The AAP candidate said that under the guidance of the Horticulture Minister and the department’s director, departmental officials are providing complete support to farmers, from training to solving their problems. Sandhu said that the success of hundreds of youth like Harbir Singh proves that the ‘AAP’ government has transformed farming from a loss-making occupation into a pathway to prosperity through proper technology, hard work, and government assistance.
