Jalandhar News: Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur has issued orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, to maintain law and order within the jurisdiction of the Commissionerate Police, Jalandhar. As per the order, all restaurants, clubs, and other licensed eating and drinking establishments must completely close by midnight (12 AM).
According to the directions, no orders for food or beverages shall be taken after 11:30 PM, and no new customers shall be allowed entry into any such establishments after that time. Liquor vends and adjoining premises must also close by 12 midnight or as per the terms of their licenses.
All establishments have been instructed to ensure that sound levels remain within 10 dB(A) limits. Additionally, DJs, live orchestras/singers, and other sound-producing sources must stop by 10 PM or keep the volume low enough that no sound escapes beyond the premises. Any sound generated inside buildings or compounds after 10 PM should not be audible outside their boundary walls. In the case of vehicles with music systems, it must be ensured that the sound is not audible outside the vehicle at any time of the day.
These orders shall remain in force till January 7, 2026.
Furthermore, under Section 163 of the BNSS, 2023, and Rule 32 of the Arms Rules, 2016, the Police Commissioner has completely banned carrying or displaying weapons in public and religious places, as well as during marriages, parties, and gatherings held in marriage palaces, hotels, halls, and other venues within the Commissionerate area.
The order also strictly prohibits any individual from promoting weapons or glorifying violence/fights through songs, photographs, or video clips, or from uploading such content on social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, or Instagram.
Additionally, no person shall deliver or share hate speeches against any community.
This order shall remain in force till January 6, 2026.
