Jalandhar Rural Police Solve Murder Case, Accused Arrested

Jalandhar News (April 02, 2026): Under the directions of S. Harvinder Singh Virk, PPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar Rural, the Jalandhar Rural Police, as part of its ongoing campaign against serious crimes, has successfully solved a murder case. Considering the sensitivity of the case, a special team led by Vineet Ahilawat, IPS, Superintendent of Police (Investigation), and Onkar Singh Brar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub-Division Nakodar, along with Sub-Inspector Dilbag Singh, SHO Police Station Sadar Nakodar, acted swiftly using modern and technical methods to trace and arrest the accused Gurdev Singh.

Sharing further details, Onkar Singh Brar, DSP sub-division nakodar stated that on 01.04.2026, Amanpreet Singh, son of Balwinder Singh, resident of Patti Akalpur Malsian, Police Station Shahkot, District Jalandhar, submitted a complaint stating that his uncle Amarjit Singh, son of Ajmer Singh, aged about 45 years, who had been working with Gurdev Singh for nearly 20 years, had not returned home since November 2025. On suspicion, FIR No. 63 dated 01.04.2026 under Sections 103 and 238 of BNS was registered at Police Station Sadar Nakodar against Gurdev Singh.

During preliminary interrogation, the accused disclosed that on 13.11.2025, he murdered Amarjit Singh and, with the intention of disposing of the body, dug a pit about 5–6 feet deep near the bathroom in his house and buried the body in a plastic sack.

Today, in the presence of Duty Magistrate Sh. Pavandeep Singh, the police team, on the identification of the accused, carried out excavation near the bathroom at his residence in village Gandhra and recovered the buried dead body of Amarjit Singh. Panchayats of village Gandhra and Malsian Patti Akalpur were also present at the spot.

The post-mortem of the body will be conducted by a board of doctors, and DNA samples of the deceased will also be collected. The accused will be produced before the Hon’ble Court, and police remand will be obtained for further in-depth investigation.
