7 cases registered, 8 arrested, 313 pills & 02 grams of heroin seized
Jalandhar News: Further intensifying the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking and anti-social elements, Jalandhar Rural Police today conducted a special checking and CASO operation in different areas of the district. This operation was carried out under the directions of Harvinder Singh Virk, Senior Superintendent of Police Jalandhar Rural and under the supervision of Sarabjit Rai, Superintendent of Police (Investigation).
During this operation, under the leadership of Narinder Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sub-Division Kartarpur), Onkar Singh Brar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sub-Division Nakodar), Bharat Masih Ladhar, PPS Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sub-Division Phillaur), Sukhpal Singh Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sub-Division Shahkot) and Rajiv Kumar Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sub-Division Adampur), thorough checking was done in places with potential drug activities, bus stands, uninhabited buildings, open fields and sensitive areas. The police teams investigated the suspects, searched the vehicles and conducted on-site security assessments.
SSP. Harvinder Singh Virk said that Jalandhar Rural Police is continuously taking action against drug peddlers and their associates under the “Yudh Nashiyan Viridh” campaign. He said that the main objective of the police is not only to take legal action, but also to save the youth from drug addiction and connect them to the mainstream.
During today’s checking, special surveillance was kept in the areas. Under this operation, 7 cases were registered and 8 persons were arrested, from whom 313 tablets and 02 grams of heroin were recovered. With which a sharp crackdown was carried out on illegal activities. During this campaign, many important sources and information were also obtained by the police, on the basis of which more strict action will be taken.
SSP Jalandhar Rural clarified that if any youth is found involved in the use of drugs, he will be linked to drug-free centers to bring him on the path of reform, while those supplying drugs will be dealt with strictly.
He appealed to the district residents that if any drug-related activity is seen in any area, then the police should be informed immediately. The identity of the informer will be kept confidential by the police.
