Kapurthala News: Polling for Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections in Kapurthala district concluded peacefully, recording around 44 per cent voter turnout till 4 pm. Voting was held for 10 Zila Parishad zones and 88 zones of five Block Samitis.
District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal said the polling process remained completely peaceful across the district. He informed that counting of votes will be held on December 17 and thanked voters, polling staff and security personnel for their cooperation in ensuring smooth and orderly elections.
Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner Vikas Varinderpal Singh Bajwa, SDM-cum-Returning Officer Kapurthala Irvin Kaur and SDM-cum-Returning Officer Sultanpur Lodhi Alka Kalia visited various polling booths to review the election process. SSP Kapurthala Gaurav Toora also inspected polling stations and said the law and order situation remained peaceful throughout the polling process.
