Muktsar: Police have arrested the main accused in the Bahmanwala murder case during an encounter near Bir Sikhwala village. The accused, identified as Chinki Davinder, sustained injuries during the exchange of fire and was taken into custody.
According to officials, Chinki is an associate of the absconding foreign-based gangster Gaurav alias Lucky Patiala, a key member of the Bambiha gang.
Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Pragya Jain said that the incident took place on July 22, when Yadwinder Singh Noon from Mohali was shot at by three motorcycle-borne assailants. The attack occurred while he was returning from a religious function in Bahmanwala village along with his associate Jiwanjot Chahal alias Jugnu.
Earlier, on July 27, Chinki and his associate Suraj Kumar had been arrested from Sirsa in Haryana.
Police said further investigation is underway to trace the remaining suspects and determine the full extent of the gang’s involvement.
