3 illegal pistols, 14 live cartridges and one motorcycle recovered
Jalandhar News: In compliance with the directions issued by Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, and under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh Virk, Jalandhar Rural Police has achieved a significant success under the ongoing special drive “Operation Prahar 2.0” against criminal and anti-social elements.
The entire operation was monitored by SP Mukesh Kumar, and DSP Kartarpur Narinder Singh.
Under this special operation, a police team led by Inspector Ramandeep Singh, SHO, Police Station Kartarpur, arrested three accused persons and recovered illegal firearms, ammunition, and a motorcycle.
While briefing the media, the SSP Jalandhar Rural stated that on 09.02.2026, a police party headed by ASI Hardeep Singh was present near the Kartarpur Bus Stand for checking of suspicious persons. During this time, specific and credible intelligence was received that three habitual offenders were travelling on a black motorcycle bearing registration number PB-36-M-2047, coming from Kapurthala towards Kartarpur, and were in possession of illegal weapons.
Acting promptly on the information, a naka was laid near Village Bishrampur on Kartarpur–Kapurthala Road. When the motorcycle approached from the Kapurthala side, the riders attempted to divert towards a road upon noticing the police party but were swiftly apprehended.
The accused were identified as Gurpreet @ Tanna (driver), Vishal (seated in the middle), and Harmanpreet @ Harman (seated at the rear).
During personal search and checking, the police recovered one pistol (.32 bore) with 02 live cartridges from accused Vishal (seated in the middle), one pistol (.32 bore) with 02 live cartridges recovered from accused Gurpreet @ Tanna (driver), and one pistol (.30 bore) with 10 live cartridges recovered from accused Harmanpreet @ Harman (seated at the rear) along with their motorcycle bearing registration number PB-36-M-2047 (Splendor, black colour)
Accordingly, FIR No. 25 dated 09.02.2026 under Sections 25(6), 25(7), 25(8), 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Kartarpur.
The accused are being produced before the Court, and police remand will be sought for further interrogation, during which further significant disclosures are expected.
It is pertinent to mention here that the accused Harmanpreet @ Harman was absconding and wanted in FIR No. 276/2025 and FIR No. 294/2025 registered at Police Station Kartarpur. There are several FIRs are registered against him including FIR No. 276 dated 02.11.2025 – Sections 326(G), 61(2), 190, 191(3), 25 BNS, PS Kartarpur, FIR No. 294 dated 20.11.2025 – Sections 109, 324(4), 3(5) BNS, 25/27 Arms Act, PS Kartarpur, FIR No. 198 dated 21.08.2025 – Sections 115(2), 118(1), 126(1), 351(2), 191(3) BNS, PS Kartarpur, FIR No. 85 dated 13.05.2025 – Section 25 Arms Act, PS Kartarpur.
While Vishal is booked in FIR No. 140 dated 19.08.2025 – Section 25 Arms Act, PS Sadar Nakodar, District Jalandhar, and Gurpreet is booked in FIR No. 14/2024 – Sections 323, 324, 341, 148, 149 IPC, PS Sadar Kapurthala, District Kapurthala.
