Sandhu Slams Previous Governments, Says ‘AAP’ Broke the Backbone of Gangsterism and Drug Networks
Tarn Taran Election News: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu said that the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has dismantled the nexus of gangsters and drug networks, thereby restoring peace and harmony in Punjab. He said that due to the lax policies of the previous governments, these problems had taken a severe form, but the Mann government, upon assuming office, adopted a policy of ‘zero tolerance’ towards crime and mafia, securing the future of the youth.
Harmeet Singh Sandhu stated that the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) constituted by the government has achieved significant success in dismantling the network of organized crime. As a result of this strict action, according to NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau) statistics (comparing 2021 with 2022), serious crimes such as murder, kidnapping, and theft have declined in Punjab.
Referring to the ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign, Sandhu said that thousands of drug traffickers have been arrested, and for the first time in history, the illegal properties of several notorious drug smugglers have been bulldozed. In addition, the police have successfully exposed modules involved in smuggling weapons through drones and recovered explosives like RDX, IEDs, and hand grenades, thus foiling the nefarious designs of anti-national elements.
He further said that to curb crime, it was necessary to strike at corruption as well. The Anti-Corruption Action Line (9501200200) was launched, and action was taken even against ministers of the government. By fixing the personal accountability of the SSPs and DCs of every district, the Chief Minister has made the police and administration more active and responsible than ever before.
Sandhu concluded by saying that the biggest beneficiaries of this ‘War on Crime’ campaign of the Mann government are the youth of Punjab. With the downfall of gangsters and the dismantling of the drug nexus, the youth have received a safe and healthy environment where, instead of being lured into crime, they can now pursue their dreams and build a bright future.
