Mohali police identify shooters in kabaddi promoter Rana Balachauria murder

Chandigarh: The Mohali police on Tuesday claimed to have identified the shooters involved in the murder of kabaddi promoter Kanwar Digvijay Singh alias Rana Balachauria during a tournament in Sohana on Monday evening. The shooters have been identified as Aditya Kapoor and Karan Pathak. Police said efforts are on to arrest them soon.

Addressing a press conference, Mohali SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans said that two shooters carried out the attack while another person was also involved. He clarified that the murder had no connection with the killing of singer Sidhu Moosewala and added that Rana Balachauria had no criminal record.

The SSP said the dispute was linked to attempts to strengthen control over kabaddi and kabaddi players. He added that two gangs — Tony Bal and Lucky Patial — which are associated with the Bambiha gang, played a key role in the case. Both identified shooters belong to the Tony Bal group.

Police said as many as 13 cases are registered against Aditya Kapoor and two cases against Karan Pathak.
